Change is never easy — we all know that — but I’m always amazed at how we crafters adjust with creativity and heart. In a way, it’s just like trying out a new fold or a new color combo: it might feel awkward at first, but once we dive in, we usually end up with something beautiful.

Stampin’ Up! just shared three big announcements, and while they might feel like a lot at first, I see them as exciting signs that the company is growing, adapting, and making sure we always have the best products in our hands.

Two of these updates are coming later this year, but one of them started Monday. Let’s take a look!

Moving to Photopolymer Stamps

Because of supply challenges with red rubber, Stampin’ Up! will be retiring cling stamps. I’ll be honest — when photopolymer stamps first came out, I wasn’t sure I’d love them. But over time, they’ve proven themselves! They’re versatile, easy to use, and have become my go-to.

Even though I’ll always have a soft spot for red rubber, I’m excited that starting with the November 2025 Online Exclusives, all new stamps will be photopolymer.

Fresh New Stamp & Die Packaging

With this transition, Stampin’ Up! is also rolling out new packaging. Stamps and dies will now come in slimmer 5-5/8″ x 9″ clear envelopes — a fresh, tidy look that also saves shelf space.

This update arrives with the November Online Exclusives, and I’ll share more when the time gets closer.

Stampin’ Write Markers Are Retiring

Here’s the change that takes effect right away: Stampin’ Write Markers (the water-based ones, not the alcohol Stampin’ Blends) are now on the Last Chance list.  That means once they’re gone, they’re gone!

If you use these markers often, now’s the time to grab a few before they sell out.  If you want to just see the markers in my Stampin' Up! Store – use the images below or click Add to Cart and then edit your cart as you'd like.  If you want to view all the Last Chance items –  CLICK HERE

A Look Back at My Favorite Marker Tricks

Since Stampin’ Write Markers have been such a staple, I thought it would be fun to take a little stroll through some of my favorite ways to use them.

One of the first tricks I tried was coloring right on the stamp before stamping. It’s such a simple idea, but the multicolor images it creates never stop feeling magical.

Another favorite has been using the markers to color in stamped images. Because they’re water-based, the color stays crisp and neat — perfect for small designs where you just want a quick pop of color. Of course we can still do this with our Stampin' Blends – look for more posts using them as we transition away from our water-based markers.

I’ve also loved adding extra touches to Designer Series Paper. Sometimes a pattern just begs for more personality, and the markers are perfect for coloring in little details. This is especially easy when using the black and white patterns that Stampin' Up! has introduced over the years.

They’re also amazing for delicate die cuts. Instead of struggling with sponges or ink pads, a marker lets you add color exactly where you want it. On the flip side, you can also color a scratch piece of paper with your marker and then run that die cut through your machine.

Watercoloring with markers is another go-to. A little scribble on watercolor paper, blended out with a brush, makes for the prettiest soft shading.

And of course, I can’t forget the acrylic block technique — coloring stripes right on the block, spritzing with water, and stamping it onto cardstock. It’s playful, a little artsy, and always gets a “wow.”

Each of these techniques has added so much joy to my projects, and I’ll always remember them as part of what made Stampin’ Write Markers special.
