This Happy Birthday Card with Stacked Flower started with three layered rectangles.  By adding one simple flower the whole card softened and the flower popped off the card with the use of colors Strawberry Slush and Granny Apple Green.  Leave a comment below with your go-to addition to a card to give it some extra character.

The Card

Here's the card outside (above) and inside (below).  Even when you're not adding a greeting to the inside, it's nice to add a little stamping to tie it all together.

Let's Make It

Now let's make this birthday card.  If you're a crafter that likes to copy exactly  I've included the dimensions below as well.

  1. Fold and burnish the score line for the Basic White card base
  2. Die cut the second largest rectangle from Granny Apple Green card stock and add to the card base
  3. Die cut the small rectangle with Basic White
  4. Die emboss the Timid Tiger layer with the Pattern of Friendship die and add to the card base
  5. Stamp the greeting on the Basic White die cut rectangle using Timid Tiger ink and add to the card base using Stampin' Dimensionals
  6. On scrap Basic White stamp the flower in Timid Tiger and then the flower center in Strawberry slush
  7. Die cut the stamped flower plus two more from Basic White scrap
  8. Die cut the stem and leaves from Granny Apple Green twice
  9. Stamp the coordinating stem and leaves with Granny Apple Green on the die cut
  10. Using Multipurpose Glue attach all the die cut flowers together and then stack the stems together
  11. Add the flower to the card using glue to the stem and attach to the upper left corner of the white rectangle
  12. Stamp the three flowers with the same color combination in the lower right of the inside white layer then add to inside of card

Dimensions and Measurements

  • Basic White – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″
  • Granny Apple Green – 5 1/4″ x 4″ and scrap for flower stem
  • Timid Tiger – 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Basic White – 5 1/4″ x 4
  • Basic White scrap for flowers and greeting rectangle
