Today kicks off a new series USE YOUR SCRAPS. In this series we will work on ways to use up your designer series paper scraps. Today we're making a unique background. This is a great one to save for a rainy (or snowy) day and make lots of them. You're going to love it once you try it.
The Card
This spiral background can be made with any coordinating designer series paper scraps. In today's card you'll see the retired Delightful Florals. In this case all the papers are from one pack. You can certainly combine packages based on the scraps you have. Be sure to check both sides to see what variations you can create.

The Supplies
Next, let's review the supplies used to make this project. When you get to the assembly I'll point out what steps to take if you're just going to make lots of backgrounds to use for later cards.
Let's Make It
Now let's make this beautiful card. The first list of instructions is to just create the spiral background. You can make dozens of these and then use them for cards later. The second set of instructions finishes off the card in this post.
- Cut designer series paper (dsp) strips into at least 5 1/2″ by 1 1/4″
- Cut each dsp strip down the diagonal and set aside
- Cut Basic White into 4″ by 5 1/4″ layers
- Add Stampin' Seal to the entire Basic White layer
- Pick a center point just slightly off center for your first strip and place on layer with point of the triangle in center – don't worry if some of it hangs off
- Add another strip next to the first making sure the points are towards the center and one side is touching
- Continue adding strips until the circle is complete
- Trim the excess from the Basic White layer
In order to make the card in this post – use the layer created from the steps above and continue with these steps:
- Fold and burnish the score line for the card base
- Stamp the greeting on a Basic White scrap
- Crop the greeting with a circle die
- Add the circle die to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals
- Add some Basic Jewel Rhinestones around the greeting circle
- Add the paper strip layer to the card base

Here's a close up of this cool background. You're going to love making lots of these once you get started.
Your Turn
I hope you enjoy this series. I have many more ideas planned to help you use up your scraps. Look for one of these each week for the next several weeks.
