Today we're going to experiment with a handmade birthday card punched pattern background.  What's that?  You use a repeating pattern from a shape punch (or die cut) to create a unique background for your card.  For today's card we're using the Heartfelt Hexagon punch.  You could use any punch that you like.  If you want to see more sample of this background let me know and I will showcase some more!

The Card

Here's the card we're making today.  To make this pattern you'll see different punched papers from the Brights 6″ x 6″ papers.  One tip when making this background is for your shapes to have some kind of theme: pattern, colors or monochromatic.

Let's Make It

Follow these instructions to recreate this card.  Anytime you try this punch pattern background you should make the 5 1/4″ by 4″ layer to create your pattern.

  1. Stamp greeting on Basic White scrap and punch out with Heartfelt Hexagon punch.
  2. Add the greeting to a 5 1/4″ by 4″ layer of Basic White with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  3. Punch several other hexagons from your Brights Paper.
  4. Using Multipurpose Glue add these in a pattern to the Basic White layer.
  5. Use your Paper Snips to trim off the excess from the Basic White layer.
  6. Attach the Basic White Layer to the card base.
  7. Add Rhinestone Basic Jewels for some bling.
