two layered happy birthday greetings

Today I want to share with you how important those scraps of neutral card stock can be when making greetings pop.  What does that mean?  Just adding a layer of white or black can change the whole look to a card and bring the greeting better into view.  This first picture (above) shows you two color combinations I layered intending to use on birthday cards.  The top one just didn't pop on its own.  You'll see I used a white layer to help solve that problem.  The other had that pop of white to start with, but I didn't want to bury it in color that would take away from it.  Below you'll see the end result and then the product I used to create the cards.

add a white layer to pop greetoing

With the white card stock as part of the greeting I was ahead of the game in getting the greeting to pop.  But for this card I really wanted a monochromatic look so I needed to sandwich white card stock between the layered greeting and die embossed peach card stock layer.  You can see in the picture below I also added additional greeting layers to because dimension can also draw the eye where you want it to go.

add layers to make greeting stand out

For this card I added layers of card stock to pop the greeting.  The peach and pink colors play well together, but they don't stand out more when you add additional pink layers which gives dimension.  Sometimes you need to experiment before the glue to find the best combination of layers.
