We had a great time at Stamp Class last week. One of the projects was this fun fall card. We created it using the Tags 4 You bundle (stamp set and punch) along with the Marvelous Maple stamp set. The featured accessory was the new Burlap Ribbon.
We used a stamping technique to color the leaf that I refer to as Detail Pop. Not sure what other stampers call it, but here are the steps to create it:
- Stamp a line image with lots of details in a very light color – we used Sahara Sand and stamped it off once to make sure the leaf image was very light.
- Color image using ink and Sponge Daubers. Staying in the lines is not required which is why I like this technique!
- Stamp the same line image in a DARK ink color – we used Soft Suede. You'll want to use your Stamp-a-ma-jig to be sure the two images line up exactly. This will put the darker image right over all the color. The colors will POP through the DETAIL of the stamp.
TIP: This is one technique where less is better. Start STEP TWO with just a little color and keep adding. We also stamped on watercolor paper which absorbs the layers of ink better than our basic card stock. You can certainly try this technique on basic card stock, but you will have to have a light hand when it comes to coloring with the Sponge Daubers.

I remember this technique…years ago and mean years ago I learned this tecnique and it was called cartooning. wierd how I remember that…have no idea why it was named that. because of this tecnique I bought a expensive stamp positioner at convention. I do still have it but I’m not really a stamp positioner gal.
