Someone asked me this weekend when the new BIG catalog was coming out. I realized that it will be out in a little over three months and we will have to say goodbye to Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petal, Midnight Muse and Gumball Green! Sigh.
This sketch was fun to follow and when I saw the shaded parts at the bottom I remembered seeing other cards with the layered Fringe Scissor effect. At first I was going to do different yellows and keep with the Summer Starfruit, but then I decided to just stick with the soon-to-be-gone In Colors from 2012-2014.
LINDA'S TIPS
The layers were pretty easy to create on their own. I did use the Circle Framelits to get just the right size circle for my “freakin' love you” with the Dahlias.
Putting the card together required a combination of Snail adhesive and Dimensionals. In particular the piece of Sweet Sorbet Summer Starfruit DSP uses two dimensionals at the top, one in the middle, but then just Snail at the bottom. Otherwise the layer would not be flat and that would throw off the circles.
As I was layering it without adhesive to see how it would look I noticed that the Summer Starfruit was cut a little crooked at the top. That was solved with the 1/2″ layer of Primrose Petal. Now everything looks aligned and straight.
Did you notice that the liner of the envelope matches the outside? How did you do that you ask? Making a video to show you later this week! I did the whole thing with our Envelope Punch Board. Be sure to check back. Is there anything else you wonder “how did she do that?” Leave me a comment and I will do my best to share the answer on the blog in the near future.
