I've been asked about color combinations a bit the past few days. Some of you have emailed about it, some have talked with me in person. In any case, I have five great suggestions for you when it comes to combining colors:
1. Stampin' Up! Color Collections – whether you're looking at the Brights, Subtles, Regals or Neutrals, each collection is made to work together well. The same can be said for each of the In Color Collections we currently have 2011-2013, and 2012-2014. The good news about the 2011-2013 combinations is that with the Color Refresh we are only losing Lucky Limeade in the upcoming Annual Catalog.
2. Color Coach – this little tool lets you break out of the collections to give you combination ideas that you might not have thought about. It's only $14.95 and a great tool for both crafting and home decor. Think about that plaid or printed couch you love, but aren't sure about what color to pick for the curtains or walls. Or what about the cute shower curtain you found, but again, what to do with the walls?
3. Stampin' Up! Catalogs – the color combinations used in the sample are wonderful references. You can look at the Stampin' Supplies for the Annual Catalog and the Stampin' Supplies for the Spring Catalog. Don't neglect the Designer Series Papers either. Those color combinations WORK – use them with your other products to make beautiful projects.
4. My Digital Studio – did you know it has a Color Combos option? You can access it from any option that let's you color something, such as a punch, change an embellishment, or stamp (brush set). Here is the Color Combo Screen:
I just clicked on Calpyso Coral and this is the first combo it gave me. You can keep clicking on the same color tile for different combos – or you can click on another tile to start anew.
5. Ink Stamp and Scrap Samples – you can go through my past card samples and see what you like. There is a Supply List below each so you can see what colors I chose.
Hope this helps! Have a great day!
