congratulations guy cardSticking with my own rules for a "guy card" can sometimes be tough!  I wante to make a congratuatlions card for our soon-to-be Superintendent of Schools.  Trumbull Public Schools is losing a wonderful superintendent to a well-deserved retirement.  His successor has been Assistant Superintendent for many years and is well prepared and qualified to take the job.

So the basic rules for a Guy Card are:

  • Stick to neutral colors
  • No flowers
  • No pinks or purples
  • No ribbon

I think I did a good job sticking to all these requriements, but I still had to add a little flare to the card.  Here is what I did:

silver button baker's twineThis is the button – the extra pop! for the card.  The button is the larger of the Basic Silver Buttons.  It fit nicely on a 1 1/4" circle of Real Red Cardstock.  I didn't want the holes of the button just sitting there, so I threaded White Baker's Twine through the holes of the button.  I put this all together with Mini Glue Dots just to make sure it would stay just the way I wanted it.

simply scored border plate
This is the zig-zag line embossed above and below the "Congratulations".  I used the Simply Scored Tool and the Borders Scoring Plate.  This plate helps you create subtle textures in your cards and scrapbook pages.
