Time! That was the theme in many of the responses I received to this email. When you sign up for my weekly emails you get a FREE tutorial with seven great card layout ideas! You start receiving my monthly emails AND you receive my first six emails every three days of your subscription.
One of the "first six" asks "What are you struggling with?". I ask this to get see where I might be able to help my readers. Usually I try to address your concerns through personal emails and articles in my emails, but I got so many about time I thought I'd write a little bit about it here too.
The "time" concerns seemed to be lumped into two categories – not enough time to stamp and when you find the time it gets eaten up by the creative process and you feel like not much gets accomplished. In my opinion, the two are connected. Here is what I like to do:
I have two types of "stamping sessions". The first session is my creative session. I just create until I'm happy with the one sample (or two to three if time permits and I have projects in mind). That's it. No pressure to mass produce or have lots completed. I like to have music playing during these sessions. The other thing to keep in mind is to set a timer 15 minutes before your alotted time is up and use that for clean-up. It's always nice to come back to a clean space.
The second session is the production session. During this session there isn't any creativity. It's all about cutting, stamping and assembling. I find having the TV on during these sessions is a great distraction. It keeps my creative juices at bay so I don't convince myself to change my design – that takes up time.
I hope you found this advice helpful. It works for me and hopefully you can adapt it to work for your stamping and crafting sessions.
