This cat is just so much fun to stamp with! I went way back in time with this one and used the Masking Technique to get this effect. It should really be called the Sticky Note technique because that's all it takes. I just stamped the cat and then covered it with a sticky note cut a little bigger than the image. When I sponged around the image with Tangerine Tango and Crumb Cake ink nothing got on the cat because the Sticky Note protected it.
STICKY NOTE TIP: Be sure to stamp the image at the top of the note where it is sticky. You need to do this so when you cut out the image you have at least a little stick to keep the note in place while you're sponging over it.
COLOR CHOICE: In case you're asking why I used Crumb Cake to sponge with instead of Basic Gray I thought I'd share. I tried a sample with the Basic Gray and it just overpowered the Tangerine Tango. Crumb Cake kept it neutral, but was much softer. I think it worked ok – leave me a comment and let me know what you think!
