To make this ornament I followed the pattern from the one that I made earlier (I made an ornament using the Champagne Glimmer Paper and Shimmer Paper last month). You can click here to see that post.
This time I used glimmer paper for both sets of ornaments. I also used hot glue for the whole thing and it went together much faster. The silver elastic cord is retired, but it just looked so cool. For the centerpiece I used the large vintage-faceted button and hot-glued a smaller one on top of it. Then I punched out the large "eye" from the owl punch in Brushed Silver paper and layered six of the larges Rhinestone Jewels on the circle. Again, I hot glued the circle to the smaller vintage-faceted button.
The tulle is our Cherry Cobbler tulle, and I think it looks lovely with the red and silver. I was a little worried mixing red and cherry, but I was happy with the result.
Underneath the buttons is a snowflake cut from the Snow Flurry Bigz Die using the Red Glimmer Paper again.
Of course the biggest helper goes unseen…Stampin' Up! Silicone Pad did the heavy work by keeping my hot glue contained and not sticking to anything.
If you decide to tackle this project, the best word of advice I can give you is don't worry about all the hot-glue strings that you will create. This was covered with them, but I just kept going and then about 10 minutes after I was done (and sure everything was cool and set) I just sat down and pulled off all the strings. Everything stayed in tact and the result was a great ornament to give away last night.
