faux tissue paper

When I show you how to make a faux tissue paper Happy Birthday card you're going to be like “this is a pro technique with none of the mess!”  I'm super happy to be back visiting you on the blog.  Little did I know I couldn't have picked a better week!  It's like the stars are aligning or something.  Anyway, I kind of stumbled into this card, because I you know how much I love the Painted Texture Embossing Folder right (I mean it's even one of My Favorites from the new catalog)?  Well I had used it quite a bit and then noticed this beautiful scrap of Sand and Sea Designer Series paper.  I decided they had to meet and when I pulled it out of my Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine it hit me that this looked just like the Faux Tissue Paper technique that take a lot of time and mess to create.

Here's how I created the Faux Tissue Paper:

  1.  Spritz the paper with water
  2. Run through your die cutting machine with Painted Texture Embossing folder

That's it!  Now you want to make sure the paper you choose has one with multiple colors in a washed or painted look.  It should look like some one painted or spritzed color on the paper.  Of course you could do this to any paper you choose, but unless it has a little artsy flair to it you might miss out on this exact look.  In that case, you could alway consider joining Technique a Week and learn how to create the real Tissue Paper Technique.

Here's a up close shot of the faux tissue paper – once you have this step done the rest of the card is pretty basic:

  1.  Add faux tissue layer to card base
  2. Die cut label and stamp greeting
  3. Stamp small greeting on scrap and cut with Paper Snips
  4. Add to label with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals
  5. Tie a bow with the Bow Maker and attach to label with glue dot
