candy cane christmas dies cards

I love making quick and simple cards, but sometimes you need to get out of the box.  The Sweet Candy Cane bundle lets you do this in many ways.  Today I'm sharing four different cards, but if you put your creative hat on, mix and match the color combinations and layouts – I think you can find at least a dozen ideas right in this post.

I'm going to share each project and tell you my favorite thing about each.  If you scroll past all my commentary you'll find  a great video on how to make the cross hatch background with the Candy Cane Dies.

I would love to hear how your handmade holiday cards are coming along!  Leave a comment and let me know.

quick and easy candy cane card

Let's start with the quick and easy card.  You know how much I love this style of card.  So much that I've used this layout more than once in my 12 Weeks of Christmas cards.  Are you getting these tutorials?  Click here to be on my list and get the remaining tutorials for 2022.  Once you're on the list you can read about a way to “see” all the back projects too.

The formula for this card is what I love the most:

Take one embossing folder + one greeting + one focal item + some bling and make a great card!

stacked backgrounds candy cane card

This card isn't quite quick and easy, but it sure is close.  The fancy elements of this card will make it stand out, but they are so easy to create.

  1.  Each card has two of the background dies layered together using Stampin' Dimensionals.  These give the card depth and a lot of character.
  2. The candy canes appear to have more texture to them, BUT all I did was second generation stamp them with Sweet Sorbet ink.  What's that you ask?  Ink the stamp up and then stamp on card stock twice.  Use the second stamped ones for this card and save the first stamped ones for another project.
single color cross hatch

What did I do with the first generation stamped candy canes from making the card above?  I put them on this card.  This is the card where I first perfected the cross hatch technique.  I could kick myself for the failed attempts, but I'm happy that you will be able to benefit from that and have a method that works everytime.

planner inspired cross hatch card

What do you think about the color combination of this card?  I was inspired by the colors in a sticker kit from one of my favorite shops on Etsy.  Where do you find inspiration for new color combinations?  Leave a comment below and let me know!
