Give Thanks for Family and Pumpkin Pie!

Today is a day to give thanks for family and pumpkin pie!  If you've been following me for awhile you know we have a wonderful tradition of eating pumpkin pie for breakfast on Thanksgiving.  If you'd like to see the pictures of this years feast please check out my facebook page.  I will be posting them by 11AM ET.

It still gives me so much joy to create simple cards that people can enjoy.  This card is certainly simple, but it says all it needs to and that's what's important.

SPECIAL NOTE:  If you'd like a chance to win the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder go to THIS POST and fill out the form at the top of the post.  Having some issues with comments – sorry about that!

Give Thanks DIY Greeting Card

I love that we pause between Halloween, Hanukkah and Christmas to give thanks.  This year I'm sending Thanksgiving cards.  I have a lot to be thankful for at the crazy time we live in and I want to share that with the people I care the most about.  Ok, pick your jaw up, I know I'm in the card making business, but sometimes after you make the card, take the pictures and write about it you're just done.  Time to move on and you forget the joy that comes in writing the note inside and sending the card.  One of my goals for 2017 is to share more joy.  Have you started thinking about 2017?

To create this card I used the Mojo Monday sketch.  I finished the card yesterday, but as those on my email list know,

Halloween Vampire DIY Greeting Card

This cute Halloween vampire is the icing on the cake for this DIY greeting card.  I have to confess this isn't my usual style.  I try to make my samples using one or two stamp sets, but today I used all my Halloween sets to create this card for you.  Take a look at all the wonderful products Stampin' Up! has to offer for Halloween.  The twist will be using some of these as the year progresses – be sure to check back daily as I already have some great ideas to share with you.  Hint: Ghoulish Grunge will be in more projects between now and the end of the year when it “goes away” for awhile.

The inspiration for this card was not a sketch!  I know – this week has been about sketches, but I decided to play the Fab

Herringbone Technique with Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape

The herringbone technique with Stampin' Up! washi tape looks complicated, but it's pretty easy.  The four or five rolls of tape in a bundle all coordinate well to make a great pattern of color.  BTW – if you are looking for a way to store your washi tape check out THIS POST. And as a bonus the washi tape is a perfect width for this technique so you only have to cut the ends:)

Here is a quick description if you haven't tried this technique before:

Add strips of Designer Series Paper or washi tape in this fashion making four triangle areas.  Start by adding the longest piece.

Fill each quadrant in using an “L” shape pattern as shown in the left quadrant with two more strips.

Stampin’ Up! Halloween Scenes and MojoMonday

Stampin' Up! Halloween Scenes framelits give you lots of options for Halloween! I needed a little inspiration to get me going this morning so I turned to the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I knew I wanted to share a Halloween card with you and once I saw the design (and finished my first cup of coffee) my wheels started turning.

Here is the sketch for this week:

You can see that I strayed a little bit, but that's the whole idea of a sketch – inspiration! The major parts of the sketch are included, I just took a little liberty with the banner and embellishment. For that I used the moon and the witch.

Speaking of moon – did you notice it's not pure yellow? Daffodil Delight in Stampin' Up! words. It started as a

Happy Easter Lamb!

Happy Easter!  It's finally spring and whether you're celebrating Easter or not I hope you're enjoying a wonderful Sunday.  This special card went to my daughter Taryn.  If you'd like to see the version I sent to Jay you can look at my Facebook page.

On this day of rebirth and renewal I thought it would be fitting to share why I've stuck with Stampin' Up! for these sixteen years.  Through many ups and downs, career plan changes and, most important, my family changes, belonging to the Stampin' Up! family always fit.  For me, that worked.  When I started with this company the party-plan companies were all the rage and my calendar filled with 8 – 10 workshops a month.  Then I chose to slow down that pace as the kids were transitioning to middle school with activities and homework lasting later into the day.

DIY Easter Card

Got in touch with my shabby chic for this one. Love the subtle colors and the doille! You could easily mass produce this one as well.

For the baker's twine follow these steps:

  1. Put a bunch of adhesive on the layer that you're going to attach it to
  2. Wrap it around your hand a few times
  3. Play with it to make sure the ends are on the same side of the loops
  4. Stick on the back of your layer
  5. Add some well placed rolled-up glue dots to hold the visual loops in place
