Marbled Background Guy Birthday Card

Using the Marbled Background makes guy cards in a snap!  This new addition to the Annual Catalog caught my eye the first time I paged through the catalog.  Whether you use it with one color or many it makes a unique background every time.

I will add that another essential to using this Marbled Background is our Stampin' Scrub.  You'll want a fresh stamp when you change colors to get a background like you see here.  For this background I wanted both colors (Dapper Denim and Lemon Lime Twist) to pop!  First I stamped with the Lemon Lime Twist then cleaned off the stamp.

Next I stamped with the Dapper Denim – but here's the trick!  When I stamped with the Lemon Lime Twist I placed the card front near the upper left corner of the stamp.  The

Easy Guy Card with Happy Celebrations

Looking for help making an easy guy card?  The all new Happy Celebrations stamp set and coordinating embossing folders give you great options!

easy guy card

One of the fabulous features of the Celebrations Duo embossing folders is that they deboss your card.   The “happy” has the added bonus of embossing the thin “happy” inside the blocky debossed word.

QUICK NOTE:  This card also features the new Urban Underground Embellishments.  I love all the shapes – they will be perfect for making an easy guy card.

For the inside of this card I used the cute birthday greeting from Better Together and then tied into the blue and gray with a strip of Flourish Washi Tape.

Happy Monday!  Have you ever heard my rules for a guy card?  If not read below – they are simple to follow and leave you with a card any guy will love to receive.  This card was inspired by the Monday Mojo Sketch and my love of the new Tip Top Taupe!  There is an entire pack of DSP dedicated to this great color – Go Wild!

Masculine DIY Birthday Card for a Guy

This card fills the masculine card bill right out of the gate.  Notice the color pallet lacks pinks and purples?  No bling or ribbon either!  This card came together quick and easy once I decided to use the Flashback Designer Series Paper as my color palette.  I’m super sad to see the What’s Up punches go – they are so great to draw attention where you want it no matter what you’re making.
The Fitting Occasion stamp set is also on its way out.  You can cover your entire array of stamping needs with just this one stamp set alone – be sure you grab it before it’s gone.  This set is made to layer with our many circle punches – none of which, I’m happy to say, are leaving us this year!
To start the card I used a half sheet of Pool

Easy Masculine Card

alphabet textured folder masculine cardWhen I saw the new Alphabet Press Textured Embossing Folder I knew this would be great for guy cards (young and old).  This is the card I gave my husband for Father's Day.  I stuck to my own three basic masculine card rules:

  1. Mostly neutral colors with a pop of red, blue, green or orange.
  2. No ribbon or bling – ever!
  3. Use texture to add character to the card.

I also likle the way the Extra Large Oval punch layers inside the smallest Deco Label Framelit.  Reviewing Rule #3 I added texture to the oval with the Chevron Embossing Folder too.

May Class Sample

by the tide collage technique stampingI love to collage stamp!  It just means stamping around everywhere with a mixture of stamps that seem to go together.  Then you add a subtle “background” that is usually the top layer of the stamping on the card.  That is what we did with this card at our May Stamp Class.

The next time we get together it will be for the June Catalog Kickoff!  This will be on Thursday, June 13 at 7:30pm at my home in Trumbull (06611).  To RSVP for this event you can go to my events page.

First, we loaded up the second largest Stampin' Up! acrylic block with five stamps from the By the Tide set.  Then we inked them in Bermuda Bay (so

Another Valentine for a Guy

With the introduction of Dude, You're Welcome we learned a lot about stamping for guys at Leadership Conference this year.  Basically, a lot of guys like basic cards.  They don't want glitter or jewels or ribbon.  Maybe a button (like the new Basic Silver) but on the whole just a card will do.  That is what I had in mind when I designed this card.

I started with a manly Basic Gray card and then only added a little to it.  I embossed the hearts down the center and added the flags from the Hearts a Flutter framelits. That's it!

Speaking of the Dude, You're Welcome kit – I got

Valentine for a Guy Card

stampin up masculine card valentineThis is one of the cards we made at a Private Valentine Card Class on Saturday!  It was lots of fun – each guest and the hostess make four cards.  Everyone learned a little and shared a lot!  One of the hostess' requests was a card for the man in your life.  I think this fit the bill!

I used blues and vanilla for most of the card and them popped it up with the Red Glimmer Paper heart.

QUICK TIP: For most of this card we put it together with Snail Adhesive.  For the layers touching the Glimmer Paper we used Glue Dots.  They are much stronger and you need that.  The back of the Glimmer Paper is almost like plastic
